I should get out less

Patterns. I see patterns in numberplates. I see words. I laugh when I see a numberplate ending in "POO" or "BUM". I imagine vowels between the consonants and make longer words. The words sometimes prompt me into singing songs which contain them.

If I see one which ends with my initials, I feel somehow aggrieved. By rights, that numberplate should be mine.

Driving around in Somerset and Devon, I've noticed that many numberplates, of the now superceded "A999 AAA" type, end in "YA", "YB", "YC", "YD" and "DV". Every 10 cars, you're virtually guaranteed to see at least one numberplate like this. When I lived in Hampshire, it was "OT" and "OR" - at least, those were the ones I noticed, but I spent much less time on the road then.

I can't stop noticing now. I'm on the verge of conducting a survey on the matter.

Yes. I should get out less.
